Stream Restoration Specialist

Sage Environmental Research is seeking self-motivated and hardworking candidates to join their field crew as stream restoration specialists. The stream restoration specialists will help implement stream restoration projects in Idaho and Washington, conduct biological surveys, and maintain equipment. Most of the work is laborious and requires working long days in remote field settings. Camping during work hitches will be required. Stream restoration specialists report directly to the project manager.

This is currently a temporary, full time position from July to October 2018, with the possibility to extend and/or rehire during the 2019 field season, depending on work performance. Please send your resume and cover letter (optional) to: 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work individually or in a team of 2-6

  • Knowledge of and interest in natural resources management, habitat restoration, salmon ecology and riparian ecology

  • Basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment in remote field settings

  • Experience using hand and power tools, including chainsaw, winch, grip hoist, and hydraulic post driver

  • Experience working long days in inclement weather and willing to live at camp sites for 4-8-day hitches

  • Ability to safely lift 60 pounds

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, innovative, positive attitude

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous stream and habitat restoration experience

  • ATV and first aid training

  • Experience working in the private sector or as a consultant

  • Ability to safely lift 100 pounds
